San Jose, California – December 4, 2012 — Allied Telesis, Inc., a global provider of secure IP/Ethernet switching solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks, announces the AT-DC2552XS—the first switch in the DC2500 Series, which is dedicated to solutions for private-cloud applications. The AT-DC2552XS is the first ultra low latency switch in the Allied Telesis DC2500 Series, which is designed for cloud environments.
Delivering 1280Gbps of switching fabric with 48 x 10GbE (SFP+) ports, the AT-DC2552XS features four QSFP+ 40GbE slots for “fat-pipe” high-bandwidth uplinks. In cut-through mode, the AT-DC2552XS forwards packets with a latency of 505 nanoseconds with 40Gb / 800 nanoseconds with 10Gb and is ideal for use with inter-server communications.
The AT-DC2552XS provides more than just speeds and feeds. Its energy efficient architecture and front-to-back air-flow cooling are critical factors in optimizing data center investment. The switch includes two slots for hot-swappable Power Supply Units (PSUs) and FANs. Also SFP+ and QSFP modules can be easily removed and replaced with no interruption to the network. These hot-swappable modules guarantee the continued delivery of essential services.
“This data center switch has been designed with green functionality in mind, resulting in low power consumption per port, despite its very high performance,” stated Jun Kohara, vice president of Global Product Management at Allied Telesis. “Now our customers can easily expand their application capabilities and respond quickly to continuous changes in their needs and in market conditions, or reduce the time to solve complex financial and scientific applications.”
With high performance and low latency, the AT-DC2552XS is the best switch for top-of-rack data center applications. Cut-through switching with minimal delay on forwarding packets allows ideal use for inter-server and storage ATA over Ethernet traffic. In combination with the Allied Telesis AT-VNC10S Network Interface Cards (C-NIC) for servers, the AT-DC2552XS helps clients to reduce costs and complexity in data centers.
As bandwidth-intensive applications such as Web 2.0, virtualization, High Performance Computing (HPC) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) continue to proliferate within enterprise data centers, 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) provides a cost-effective way to increase throughput and seamlessly deliver services.
