SAN JOSE, CA - June 13, 2017 - Allied Telesis, a leading provider of hardware and software products that allow customers to build secure, feature-rich and scalable data exchange solutions, enjoyed considerable success at the recent NFV Europe awards presentation by collecting two first place prizes and a runner up prize for its AMF Security (AMF-Sec) network management and security solution. AMF-Sec was developed by Allied Telesis to enable enterprises to access the many benefits that SDN promises but without the complexity and cost of developing their own solutions.

“We are absolutely delighted to be recognized by the awards panel in this way because it vindicates what we have been saying for quite a while now, that most enterprises are not structured to deploy SDN the way data centers and service providers can and they need something easier to work with and manage,” said Graham Walker, Product Marketing Manager for AMF-Sec at Allied Telesis. “What enterprises need is an off-the-shelf SDN solution that’s simple to deploy, configure and support and delivers greater network management capabilities along with improved network control, without adding ongoing administration overhead. That’s AMF-Sec and the NFV Europe awards panel has clearly recognized its potential in the market.”

The NFV Europe conference is the premier event in Europe to showcase and discuss network virtualization technology. The purpose of the event is to enhance and expedite service delivery and creation through SDN and virtualized networks, by discussing use cases exploring the benefits and challenges associated with the commercial deployment of NFV and SDN. Major sponsors of the event include Huawei, Oracle, Intel, VMware, IBM, Fortinet, and Palo Alto. Since the event is primarily focused on NFV solutions, the major network operators were also well represented: Telefonica, Verizon, Vodafone, British Telecom and Orange.

AMF-Sec provides intelligent network management and programmability by connecting business applications such as HR systems, Asset Management and network firewalls, with the network infrastructure. It automates network changes as a result of staff movements; it can detect and protect data leaks, and can detect suspicious behavior and block attempts to connect to the network. This enables the network to dynamically respond to network access changes and security threats, dramatically reducing administration time and cost. Our off-the-shelf solution is tried and tested – there is no user development required. It is easily deployed and customized to meet specific requirements, and is fully supported by Allied Telesis.

Naka City, located in the Kanto region of Japan, north-west of Tokyo, selected AMF-Sec in 2016 after a public tender process to identify new security solutions that would keep public records safe. The Naka City hall manages the public computer network for the schools and various local government offices and public buildings, providing both wired and wireless access for the city’s residents. This network allows users to access personal data such as their social security and tax information. AMF-Sec was deployed in 39 locations over a 2-week period, and the system was officially commissioned after a successful 1-week trial.

With AMF-Sec, Allied Telesis continues to expand its product and solutions capabilities, allowing customers to focus more on their core business rather than managing the gap between their evolving network management needs and the necessity to always seek greater value from their network investments.

AMF-Sec was previously known as Secure Enterprise SDN (SES).
