User Guide: AWC plug-in version 3.6.0 for VST-VRT

Register Wireless APs

Finally, we are ready to register APs in the AWC Plug-in's management database.

Here, we register with manual IP settings. If you want to register many APs at once, you can also register using a CSV file.

Register AT-TQ5403 Manually

Register Root AP

  1. Select "Wireless Configuration" > "AP Settings" from the AWC Plug-in menu.
The AP list screen will appear.

  2. Put the mouse cursor on the gear icon at the top right of the screen and select "Manual Registration" from the submenu.
The "Wireless AP Registration" dialog box will appear.

  3. Enter an administrative name for the AP you want to register, in the "Device Name" field.
    Here, enter "TQ5403-SC-1".

  4. Specify the Management Group that you want the AP to belong to.
Select "3F Group" from "Management Group".
Then the "Enable" option will be added to "Use AMF for AP Provisioning".

  5. Select "Disable" for "Use AMF for AP Provisioning".
It is necessary to specify a static IP address in advance on the AP web interface or assign a static IP address to the AP from a DHCP server.

  6. Specify "IP Address" of the AP to be added as "TQ5403-SC-1.
In the IP address field, there are two options, "DHCP" and "STATIC".

    • DHCP
The AP will obtain the AWC Plug-in server information via the DHCP option 43 from the DHCP server along with the IP address, and join under management.
Select this option when you allow Factory Default APs to join the Smart Connect network by "Auto Discovery" described later.

    • STATIC
The AP will not use DHCP server with option 43.
Select this to assign an IP address from a wired DHCP server or to specify the IP address on the AP Web interface.

This time, select "STATIC" for Root AP.
In the displayed field, enter "192.168.1.230" this time.

  7. Enter MAC Address "00:00:5e:00:53:00" of the AP to be added as "TQ5403-SC-1".

  8. Click "Add".
The AP Configuration Detail screen will appear.

On the "Wireless AP Detail" page, information about the selected AP "TQ5403-SC-1" is displayed. At this stage, the "Management Status" is "Unmanaged" and the "AP Profile" is "Unconfigured".
Since we will create the SC Profile first and then will apply the AP Profile, leave AP Profile unconfigured here.

Register Satellite AP

Register another AP to operate as a Satellite AP (Connector AP / Terminator AP).
This time, the initial setting of the satellite AP is performed through a wired connection using a UTP cable.

    Here, enter "TQ5403-SC-2".

  4. Specify the Management Group that you want the AP to belong to.
Select "3F Group" from "Management Group".
Then the "Enable" option will be added to "Use AMF for AP Provisioning".

  5. Select "Disable" for "Use AMF for AP Provisioning".

  6. Specify "IP Address" of the AP to be added as "TQ5403-SC-2.
For this satellite AP registration, select "STATIC" and enter "192.168.1.231" in the input field.

  7. Enter MAC Address "00:00:5e:00:53:20" of the AP to be added as "TQ5403-SC-2".

  8. Click "Add".
The AP Configuration Detail screen will appear.

On the "Wireless AP Detail" page, the selected AP "TQ5403-SC-1" is added. At this stage, the "Management Status" is "Unmanaged" and the "AP Profile" is "Unconfigured".
Since we will create the SC Profile first and then will apply the AP Profile, leave AP Profile unconfigured here.
