Backup and Restore AWC Plug-in System
This section explains how to backup and restore the AWC Plug-in system.
NoteMake sure that directories and files used for backup and restoration do not contain any multibyte characters.
NoteDo not apply the EFS encryption function of Windows to the directory where Vista Manager EX is installed or the directory where backup files are stored.
Backup System Data
System Data includes the AWC Plug-in's AP management configuration and system settings.NoteThe following settings are not backed up because they are environment-dependent. Please re-configure manually according to your environment:
- Server PC's IP address
- Protocol (http/https) used for Server PC's management web interface
- Server Certificate
NoteIt does not contain Vista Manager EX's AMF device information, licenses, and the SNMP Plug-in's network management data.
Data managed by Vista Manager EX and the SNMP plug-in system should be backed up by a separate utility for each system.
Therefore, it is recommended that you also take backups for Vista Manager EX and the SNMP Plug-in when you backup AWC Plug-in system data.
NoteIt is recommended that you take a backup regularly.
- From the Windows program menu, select "AT-Vista Manager EX", right-click "AT-AWC - Backup Restore" and click "Run as administrator".
- The "AT-AWC Plug-in Backup and Restore Utility" dialog box will appear.
- Select the "Backup" tab and enter a destination folder, a password (optional), and a comment (optional).
Note
The file save destination should be a directory to which the EFS encryption function of Windows has not been applied.
- Choose whether to save logs to a file.
Logs are not backed up to the backup file. If you want to view existing logs after an update, check "Save logs in a separate file" so that the logs are exported to a CSV file.
By default this option is not checked.
- Click "Run".
- Click "Yes" to the confirmation message.
- After the backup process has finished, a dialog box which shows the backup is over will appear. Click "OK".
A backup filename will be in the format of "config_atawc-X.X.X_BXX-YYYYMMDD-hhmmss.zip".
If you checked "Save logs in a separate file", the logs will be exported to the file with the name in the format of "log_atawc-X.X.X_BXX-YYYYMMDDhhmmss.zip".
Restore System Data
To restore system data for the AWC Plug-in, you have to unregister the AWC Plug-in from Vista Manager EX, restore its backup file, then re-register the Plug-in.NoteWhen Vista Manager EX starts for the first time after restoring the previous version's backup file, the AWC Plug-in will automatically apply the settings to the APs. Please note that this operation will temporarily stop wireless traffic.
NoteIf the disk space is insufficient when restoring the AWC Plug-in's backup file, the restore process will fail.
In such a case, make more free space on the disk by deleting unused files and perform the restore operation again.
NoteThe SNMP Plug-in service stops temporarily while the AWC Plug-in is being restored.
The SNMP Plug-in will automatically resume its operation after the AWC Plug-in's restoration is complete.
NoteThe users' network permissions database for the Management Group is retained in Vista Manager EX itself.
When restoring the backup file of the AWC Plug-in, the data related to the AWC Plug-in will be initialized once. If you restore the AWC Plug-in after Vista Manager EX, the network permissions information of the users for the Management Group will be deleted and the association may not be correct even after the restoration.
If you restore Vista Manager EX after the AWC Plug-in, the users' network permissions information for AWC Plug-in's Management Groups will be restored correctly.
When restoring only the backup file of the AWC Plug-in to the operating Vista Manager EX system, set the users' network permissions again after the restoration.
Unregister AWC Plug-in

If your environment security policy enforces the EFS encryption function on the installation directory or the directory that stores the backup files, use the following procedure to remove the EFS encryption function of the floor map image.
- Open the [Vista Manager EX Installation Directory]\Plugins\AT-AWC\amf_gui\ver\FloorMap folder.
- If you have a file with a key mark, right-click the file and click "Properties".
- In the "General" tab of the "(file name) Properties" window, click the "Advanced" button in "Attributes" group.
- Uncheck the "Encrypt contents to secure data" of "Compress or Encrypt attributes", and click "OK".
- Click "OK" in the "(File name) Properties" window to close it.
