User Guide: Vista Manager AWC Plug-in version 3.2.0

Backup and Restore AWC Plug-in System

This section explains how to backup and restore the AWC Plug-in system.

Note
Make sure that directories and files used for backup and restoration do not contain any multibyte characters.

Backup System Data

System Data includes the AWC Plug-in's AP management configuration and system settings.
Note
The following settings are not backed up because they are environment-dependent. Please re-configure manually according to your environment:

- Server PC's IP address
- Protocol (http/https) used for Server PC's management web interface
- Server Certificate
Note
It does not contain Vista Manager EX's AMF device information, licenses, and the SNMP Plug-in's network management data.
Data managed by Vista Manager EX and the SNMP plug-in system should be backed up by a separate utility for each system.
Therefore, it is recommended that you also take backups for Vista Manager EX and the SNMP Plug-in when you backup AWC Plug-in system data.
Note
It is recommended that you take a backup regularly.
  1. From the Windows program menu, select "AT-Vista Manager EX", right-click "AT-AWC - Backup Restore" and click "Run as administrator".

  2. The "AT-AWC Plug-in Backup and Restore Utility" dialog box will appear.

  3. Select the "Backup" tab and enter a destination folder, a password (optional), and a comment (optional).

  4. Choose whether to save logs to a file.
Logs are not backed up to the backup file. If you want to view existing logs after an update, check "Save logs in a separate file" so that the logs are exported to a CSV file.
By default "Save logs in a separate file" is not checked.

  5. Click "Run".

  6. Click "Yes" to the confirmation message.

  7. After the backup process has finished, a dialog box which shows the backup is over will appear. Click "OK".
A backup filename will be in the format of "config_atawc-X.X.X_BXX-YYYYMMDD-hhmmss.zip".
If you checked "Save logs in a separate file", the logs will be exported to the file with the name in the format of "log_atawc-X.X.X_BXX-YYYYMMDDhhmmss.zip".

Restore System Data

To restore system data for the AWC Plug-in, you have to unregister the AWC Plug-in from Vista Manager EX, restore its backup file, then re-register the Plug-in.
Note
When Vista Manager EX starts for the first time after restoring the previous version's backup file, the AWC Plug-in will automatically apply the settings to the APs. Please note that this operation will temporarily stop wireless traffic.
Note
If the disk space is insufficient when restoring the AWC Plug-in's backup file, the restore process will fail.
In such a case, make more free space on the disk by deleting unused files and perform the restore operation again.
Note
The SNMP Plug-in service stops temporarily while the AWC Plug-in is being restored.
The SNMP Plug-in will automatically resume its operation after the AWC Plug-in's restoration is complete.

Unregister AWC Plug-in

If you have registered the AWC Plug-in on Vista Manager EX's Plug-in Management page, unregister the Plug-in.
  1. Select "System Management" from the main menu.

  2. Click "Manage Plug-ins" from "Vista Manager EX" on the "About" tab.

  3. Click "AWC Plug-in" on the plug-in list at the left side of the screen.

  3. Select the "Restore" tab and enter a backup filename, and a password if needed.

  4. To restore system data from a backup file, check "Restore system information".
    System Configuration includes the following:

    • Database Setting

    • Data Retention Period Setting
      • Associated Client History
      • Client Location Estimation History
      • IDS Report History
    • Network Map Setting

In addition, Client Location Estimation History data is also recovered from the backup file.

  5. Click "Run".

  3. Click "Add Plug-in" at the top right of the "Plug-in Management" page.

  4. Enter the AWC Plug-in's URL in the "Server URL:" field.

    • AWC Plug-in: https://localhost:5443/wireless_plugin
    Note
If you have changed the port of the AWC Plug-in service, specify the port number after the hostname and colon in the URL, for example "localhost:8443".

  5. Click the "Test Connection" button.

  6. When a response is received from the AWC Plug-in URL, the SHA1 and SHA256 fingerprints of the plug-in certificate will be displayed in the "Plug-in Certificate Fingerprints" field.
Confirm the fingerprints and click "Save" to register the plug-ins.

  7. Upon successful registration, "AWC Plug-in" will be added to the plug-in name list.
The AWC Plug-in menu icon will be also added to the Vista Manager EX main menu.

Migrate Account Data from Previous Version's Backup

AWC Plug-in Versions 2.4.1 and earlier store account information in a separate database from the Vista Manager EX database.
When you restore backup files created by these older versions of the AWC Plug-in to the newer version system, the account information for the plug-in is consolidated to the Vista Manager EX's account database.
When this happens, some items are automatically filled with the fixed default value as follows:
