Vista Manager Network Appliance (VST-APL) Guides

The Vista Manager Network Appliance (VST-APL) includes the tools to simplify and centralize management and security of your network. There are two possible ways to use the VST-APL: as a network management and monitoring device with Vista Manager, or as a firewall. With Vista Manager and related applications, the appliance provides an integrated graphical view for monitoring and management of wired, wireless and third-party devices. With the AlliedWare Plus 10G UTM Firewall application installed on the appliance, it provides a powerful 10GbE UTM firewall and threat protection combined with comprehensive VPN capability.

Vista Manager Application

Vista Manager is a state-of-the-art management and monitoring tool for LAN, SD-WAN and wireless networks delivering powerful automation features.

The Vista Manager installation comes with optional AWC, SNMP, and Trap Receiver plugins.

See the Vista Manager EX Release Notes and User Guide for information on how to setup and use Vista Manager on the Network Appliance.

AWC plugin

The Allied Telesis Autonomous Wave Control (AWC) plugin enables management and monitoring of Allied Telesis wireless access points (APs). It is available as an optional plugin for Windows-based Vista Manager EX installations.

The AWC plugin's release notes and installation guide are included in the Vista Manager EX documents.

The AWC plugin user guides include details on setting up and using AWC Channel Blanket (AWC-CB) and AWC Smart Connect (AWC-SC).

SNMP plugin

The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) plugin extends Vista Manager EX by allowing you to monitor and manage a wide range of third-party devices. It is available as an optional plugin for Windows-based Vista Manager EX installations.

The SNMP plugin's release notes and installation guide are included in the Vista Manager EX documents.

The following user guide covers the setup and use of the SNMP plugin to manage and monitor third-party devices on your network.

Nozomi plugin

The Nozomi plugin lets you discover and classify devices on your network. If you run an AMF network with AMF Device Discovery enabled, you can use Nozomi to add more information about devices into Vista Manager.

After you register the plugin, Vista Manager will poll for devices and discover them using the plugin. The devices will then be displayed on the Network Map and Asset Management pages, and you can change any desired custom details. When you remove or unregister the Nozomi plugin, the devices discovered by Nozomi will be removed from the map.

The following user guide covers the setup and use of the Nozomi plugin to monitor third-party devices on your network.

Trap Receiver

The Trap Receiver extends Vista Manager by allowing you to monitor a wide range of third-party devices. It is available as an application for Vista Manager Network Appliance (VST-APL) installations.

The Trap Receiver plugin's release notes and installation guide are included in the Vista Manager EX documents.

The following user guide covers the setup and use of the Trap Receiver plugin to monitor third-party devices on your network.

AMF Security Application

The Allied Telesis AMF Security (AMF-Sec) Controller is a powerful security solution with an intelligent, fully-featured SDN controller. It reduces manual effort and cost by working with security applications to instantly respond to alerts, and block the movement of threats within a wired or wireless network.

The following documents covers the configuration and use of AMF Security on your Vista Manager Network Appliance (VST-APL).

AMF Cloud Application

The Autonomous Management Framework (AMF) is a suite of features that combine to simplify network management across all supported network equipment from the core to the edge.

The AMF Cloud Application allows you to configure an AMF Controller or Master on your Vista Manager Network Appliance.

The following document covers the configuration and use of AMF on your AlliedWare Plus network.

AlliedWare Plus Firewall Application

The AlliedWare Plus Firewall application is a virtualized version of the AlliedWare Plus UTM Firewall. Installed on the VST-APL, it provides a 10GbE UTM firewall.

The documentation on the following pages covers how to use the firewall.
