Wake-on-LAN (WoL) is a computer industry standard for remotely powering on or waking up an otherwise unavailable computer from a remote location. WoL allows otherwise active computers to be deactivated when not required and reactivated when instructed to do so. Effective use of WoL allows system administrators or users to turn computers on remotely, for patch management remote support and remote access. WoL has the potential to greatly increase the use of low-power modes and energy-saving techniques.
“We are recognized globally for an extensive line-up of network adapters and enjoy a leading share of the military and government market where our customers appreciate the quality and reliability that we deliver, “ said James Mustarde, Vice President of Marketing. “The 2914 represents outstanding value for a Gigabit adapter, both for its performance and affordability and for the ongoing operational cost-savings it can deliver. The SFP-equipped version is particularly flexible, offering a future-proof migration path from 100MB to Gigabit speeds with a simple SFP swap-out.”
