Allied Telesis Innovates x530 Series With Launch of Full Fiber Switch

San Jose, CA – March 8, 2024 – Allied Telesis, a global leader in connectivity solutions and intelligent networking tools, is pleased to introduce its x530-28GSX full fiber switch, bringing flexibility and network optimization to the company’s x530 Series of multi-Gigabit switches.

Months in development, the x530-28GSX switch is a 24-port 100/1000X SFP stackable switch with 4 SFP+ ports and 2 fixed power supplies. It can aggregate a 24x1 Gigabit fiber link to a 4x10 Gigabit fiber link and up to 8 units can be stacked using Virtual Chassis Stacking (VCStack™) to build a 192 Gigabit fiber aggregator. The switch also supports copper connectivity via SFP/SFP+ ports allowing the maximum flexibility of both copper and fiber as required.

“Businesses and organizations need to meet the rapidly changing demand put on networks by applications such as artificial intelligence, 5G backhaul and edge computing. The x530-28GSX enables the addition of bandwidth using either copper or fiber at either 1 or 10Gb/s, and because of its high resiliency, this capacity increase works very well for numerous large site markets such as education campuses, FTTx deployments, utilities and city-wide metro networks,” said Richard Lardner, Senior MarCom Director at Allied Telesis. “Furthermore, with the flexibility to provide over 200 fiber ports within a small, stacked footprint, they can be used in dense fiber only networks such as defence and CNI (Critical National Infrastructure), coupling this with our Active Fiber Monitoring technology helps to reduce the chances of a cyber-attack on the attached passive infrastructure.”

Rich networking feature set, including:

  • Increased network capacity: using fiber between access and aggregation removes distance limitations from existing copper cabling and optimizes network architecture and cost.
  • Network automation: Vista Manager™ EX bundled with Allied Telesis Autonomous Management Framework™ Plus (AMF Plus) addresses increased management requirements of modern networks. While AMF Plus allows an entire network to be securely and easily managed as a single virtual device, Vista Manager EX provides an intuitive and powerful graphical tool for monitoring and managing AMF Plus wired and Autonomous Wave Control (AWC) wireless devices.
  • Device and network management: integrated into the Device GUI, Vista Manager™ mini supports visibility and management of wired and wireless devices, making it ideal as a one-stop solution for small to medium-sized networks.
  • Resilient: VCStack provides enhanced resiliency with no single point of failure. Long Distance Stacking (VCStack LD), allows stacks to be created over fiber links, making the x530 Series the perfect choice for distributed environments.
  • Reliable: dual built-in power supplies guarantee the delivery of essential services, and near-hitless online stack reconfiguration enables maintenance to be performed without affecting network uptime.
  • Secure: the x530 Series offers powerful control over network traffic types, secure management options, loop guard to protect against cabling mistakes, and tri-authentication for comprehensive access control.
  • Environmentally friendly: the x530 Series supports Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE), automatically reducing the power consumed by the switch whenever there is no traffic on a port.
  • Smart Buildings/Smart City: can be used in Smart Buildings to aggregate all building links in the basement, avoiding multiple racks in the building and can be used in a Smart City, driving the fiber link from an Industrial Ethernet switch in the cabinet to a dedicated room without the need for an industrial aggregation switch in an outdoor cabinet.
