Allied Telesis Targets Small and Medium-Sized Businesses with MWS Series of Cost-Effective Dual-Band Wireless Access Technology

SAN JOSE, CA - June 30, 2017 - Allied Telesis, a leading provider of hardware and software products that allow customers to build secure, feature-rich and scalable data exchange solutions, has launched the MWS series of wireless access points for small and medium-size businesses. Intended to satisfy the need for secure, high-performance wireless connectivity but without the cost and complexity of other vendor’s offerings, the MWS series are perfect for small deployments where available tech skills may be limited.

‘The sheer number of smartphones, tablets and laptops in even the smallest workplace means many small businesses under-estimate the demand for wireless connectivity, resulting in slow network access, lower productivity and frustrated employees,” said James Mustarde Vice President of Marketing. ‘By making the MWS series extremely easy to deploy and very affordable, small businesses can increase their wireless coverage with more access points and reduce the risk of productivity-killing bottlenecks.”

The MWS wireless AP series consists of three models:

ModelPort ConfigurationAvailability
MWS2533AP4x4 MIMO of IEEE802.11ac wave2Now
MWS1750AP3x3 MIMO of IEEE802.11acNow
MWS600AP2x2 MIMO of IEEE802.11nNow

The MWS600AP supports two IEEE802.11n spatial streams, with a throughput of 300Mbps in the 2.4GHz band and 300Mbps in the 5GHz band. The MWS1750AP supports three IEEE 802.11n/ac spatial streams, with a throughput of 450Mbps in the 2.4GHz band and1.3Gbps in the 5GHz band. Finally, the WS2533AP supports four IEEE 802.11n/ac spatial streams, with a throughput of 600Mbps in the 2.4GHz band and 1.7Gbps in the 5GHz band.

MWS series wireless access points (AP) support IEEE802.11a/b/g/n or IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ ac. Dual-band support utilizes the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz frequencies at the same time. This allows laptops that support 5GHz to be offloaded onto this less-cluttered band, freeing up the 2.4GHz band for other devices such as smartphones and tablets. Advanced IEEE 802.11i network authentication and WEP, WPA/WPA2 encryption ensures strong security, and WLANs can be segmented with SSIDs and VLAN Tagging. Rogue AP detection prevents unauthorized entry into the wireless network.

MWS series APs can be configured using a user-friendly and intuitive Web-based interface that requires no prior training. Later in 2017, MWS APs will be manageable with Vista Manager EX, Allied Telesis’ state-of-the-art monitoring and management tool for Allied Telesis AMF™ networks.
