Operations related to SNMP Parameters



A SNMP Parameter is a group of SNMP configurations such as SNMPv1/v2c community name, SNMPv3 username, context name and security level. By default, SNMP parameters "public", "private" and "netman" are defined.
It is used by the SNMP Plug-in to access subnets or devices via SNMP.

View SNMP Parameter List

SNMP Parameter List page lets you view, create, edit or delete SNMP Parameters.

"SNMP Parameter List" page can be reached from "Add Subnet", "Edit Subnet", "Add Subnet" or "Edit Device" page, as well as selecting "System" > "SNMP Parameter" from SNMP Plug-in Menu.
For example, to open the "SNMP Parameter List" page via "Add Device" page, do the following steps.
  1. Select "Device List" from the menu.
    "Device List" page will appear.

  2. Click "Create New" button at the top.
    Add Device page will appear.

  3. Click the "SNMP Parameter List" link below the "SNMP Parameter Name(Set)" dropdown list.
    SNMP Parameter List page will appear.

View SNMP Parameter Details

SNMP Parameter Details page can be reached from SNMP Parameter List page.
  1. Open "SNMP Parameter List" page.
  2. Click "Details" button for an SNMP Parameter you want to review in details.
    SNMP Parameter Details page will appear.

    "SNMP Parameter Details" page lets you review the following configurations.
    • SNMP Parameter Name
    • Description
    • Community Name
    • Username
    • Context Name
    • Security Level
    • Authentication Protocol
    • Authentication Password
    • Encryption Protocol
    • Encryption Password
    You can also edit or delete the SNMP Parameter from this page. Refer to Screen Reference > System > SNMP Parameters for more details.

Create SNMP Parameters

You can create a new SNMP Parameter on the Create SNMP Parameter page.
"Create SNMP Parameter" page can be reached from the SNMP Parameter List page.
  1. Open "SNMP Parameter List" page.
  2. Click "Add New".
    Create SNMP Parameter page will appear.

  3. Enter an SNMP Parameter name and a comment if required.
  4. Specify SNMP parameters.
    Required parameters vary depending on a SNMP version you are going to use.
    • SNMPv1/v2c
      • Community Name
    • SNMPv3
      • Username
      • Context Name
      • Security Level:
        Either "None", "NoAuth / NoPriv", "Auth / NoPriv" or "Auth / Priv".
      • Authentication Protocol:
        "MD5", "SHA-1", "SHA-2(SHA-224)", "SHA-2(SHA-256)", "SHA-2(SHA-384)", or "SHA-2(SHA-512)" (When "Security Level" is set to "Auth / NoPriv" or "Auth / Priv"). "None" (When "Security Level" is other than the previously mentioned.).
      • Authentication Password
        (When "Security Level" is set to "Auth / NoPriv" or "Auth / Priv")
      • Encryption Protocol:
        "DES", "AES-128", "AES-192", "AES-256", or "3DES" (When "Security Level" is set to "Auth / Priv"). "None" (When "Security Level" is other than the previously mentioned.).
      • Encryption Password
        (When "Security Level" is set to "Auth / Priv")
  5. Click "Add New".
    Now you can see the new SNMP Parameter in the list.

Edit SNMP Parameter

Edit SNMP Parameter page lets you change an exisiting SNMP Parameter.
"Edit SNMP Parameters" page can be reached from SNMP Parameter List page or SNMP Parameter Details page. For example, to go to "Edit SNMP Parameter" page from "SNMP Parameter List", do the following steps.
  1. Open "SNMP Parameter List" page.
  2. Click "Edit" button for an SNMP Parameter you want to edit.
    Edit SNMP Parameter page will appear.

  3. Change the comment as required.
  4. Change the SNMP parameters.
    Required parameters vary depending on a SNMP version you are going to use.
    • SNMPv1/v2c
      • Community Name
    • SNMPv3
      • Username
      • Context Name
      • Security Level:
        Either "None", "NoAuth / NoPriv", "Auth / NoPriv" or "Auth / Priv".
      • Authentication Protocol:
        "MD5", "SHA-1", "SHA-2(SHA-224)", "SHA-2(SHA-256)", "SHA-2(SHA-384)", or "SHA-2(SHA-512)" (When "Security Level" is set to "Auth / NoPriv" or "Auth / Priv"). "None" (When "Security Level" is other than the previously mentioned.).
      • Authentication Password
        (When "Security Level" is set to "Auth / NoPriv" or "Auth / Priv")
      • Encryption Protocol:
        "DES", "AES-128", "AES-192", "AES-256", or "3DES" (When "Security Level" is set to "Auth / Priv"). "None" (When "Security Level" is other than the previously mentioned.).
      • Encryption Password
        (When "Security Level" is set to "Auth / Priv")
  5. Click "Save".
    You can see the updated SNMP Parameter in the list.

Delete SNMP Parameter

You can delete an existing SNMP Parameter from the SNMP Parameter List page.
You can also delete an SNMP Parameter on its SNMP Parameter Details page. For example, to delete an SNMP Parameter from the "SNMP Parameter List" page, follow the steps below.
  1. Open "SNMP Parameter List" page.
  2. Click "Delete" button for an SNMP Parameter you want to delete.
    Opens "Delete SNMP Parameter" dialog box for the SNMP Parameter.
  3. Click "Yes" to delete the SNMP Parameter.
    Click "No" or "Close (x)" button at the top left of the dialog box allows you to cancel the delete operation and go back to the "SNMP Parameter List" page.
