Floor Map

Screen Reference > Wireless Monitoring > Floor Map

This page allows you to create floor maps to manage APs more efficiently.
Clicking a floor map panel shows its details.
Note
The page is periodically refreshed to display the latest information.
Note
Please do not use the automatic scroll feature of your mouse wheel on the page.
Note
Long floor map names may be truncated on the "Floor Map List" in the panel or list view and the "Floor Map Details" page.
To see an entire name, go to the "Floor Map List" > "List View" icon > "Pencil" icon > "Edit Floor Map" page.
Note
If you sort by IP address, the addresses in an AP list are sorted in lexicographical order.

Section 1


Table 1: Floor Map List's command buttons
Item Name Description
Management group drop-down menu Narrow down the floor map to be displayed. The default is "All Management Groups".
Floor Map drop-down menu Select the floor map to be configured.
The default is "All Floor Maps".
When you select one of the floor maps, the display in the center of the contents section will switch from the floor map list view to the floor map detail view.
3D Floor Map button
 Switches the display to a 3D Floor Map view.
When any management group other than "All Management Groups" is selected in the Management Group drop-down menu, the 3D Floor Map button is enabled.

"History Mode" button Displays "History Mode" screen to recall the status of APs and associated clients in the floor map details for a specified period.
To use History Mode, the VST-APL on the same subnet must be registered as Vista Appliance Storage.
For more information about the History Mode, please refer to Screen Reference > Wireless Monitor > Floor Map History Mode.
"Area List" button Opens the "All Area List" dialog box.

Lists all the areas created on any floor maps, along with information of Area Authentication VAPs associated with each area.
  • X Area:
    Shows the total number of areas created on the all floor maps. If you have narrowed down the display target using the search field, the number of display targets that match the conditions is displayed.
  • Search Floor Areas:
    You can search for particular areas.
    The Search field lets you enter a partial string to match. The screen displays entries with that string in one of the following fields: "Area Name", "AP/CB Profile", "SSID".
    To remove the filter, delete the string from the Search field and press Enter.
    Note
    The search is case-sensitive.
  • Checkbox:
    Check to select an area so you can remove its association with the Area Authentication VAP.
  • Floor Map Name:
    Shows the floor map name.
    Click the floor map name to display the corresponding floor map details page.
  • Area Name:
    Shows the area name created on the floor map.
  • AP/CB Profile:
    When an Area Authentication VAP is associated with the area, displays the AP or CB Profile in which the corresponding VAP is defined.
    Click the AP / CB Profile name to display the corresponding Profile details page.
  • Radio:
    When an Area Authentication VAP is associated with the area, displays the radio band (Radio 1/2/3) in which the VAP operates.
  • Area Auth VAP:
    When an Area Authentication VAP is associated with the area, displays the VAP number of the corresponding VAP.
  • SSID:
    When an Area Authentication VAP is associated with the area, displays the SSID of the corresponding VAP.
  • Number of Items on the page
    Specifies the number of items per page.
  • <<:
    Goes to the first page of the list.
  • Page Number:
    Shows the current page number in the list.
  • >>:
    Goes to the last page of the list.
  • "Save" button:
    Saves the association between the area and the Area Authentication VAP.
  • "Remove Area-VAP Relation" button:
    Disassociates the area and the Area Authentication VAP.
  • "Cancel" button:
    Discards changes over the relationship between the area and Area Authentication VAP and closes this dialog box.
"Tag" button
Note
The "Edit Tags" button cannot be used in Panel View.
Edit tags in List View.
"Create" button Opens the "Create Floor Map" dialog box.

Table 2: Floor Map Panel
Item Name Description
Floor Map Panels Each floor map is shown as a panel. The name of the floor map and the number of APs placed on the map are shown below the panel.
When an Admin user hovers over a panel, that panel will become half-opaque, and "Edit" (pencil) and "Delete" (trashbin) buttons will appear at the top right of the panel Clicking the panel opens the "Floor Map Details" page for the floor map.
  • When a floor map panel is shown in red, one or more APs on the floor map has an issue and have gone out of management.
    Once all wireless APs are back in management again, the floor map panel will return to its normal state.


    • "Edit" (pencil) button:
      Opens the "Edit Floor Map" dialog box to edit its name, image file, tags and notes.

    • "Delete" (trashbin) button:
      Opens the "Delete Floor Map" dialog box to let you delete the floor map.

    • "View Details >>":
      Moves to the "Floor Map Details" page.

    • Comment Balloon (On mouse-over):
      Shows the notes for the floor map, if any.

Section 3


This page lists the floor maps that have been created with the AWC Plug-in.
The floor map information displayed depends on the type of information selected in the extended view of the floor map list described below. By default, only basic information is displayed.

Item Name Description
Details You can click to see the information such as the number of Deployed APs, and Tags, in addition to the default items of Status, Floor Map Name, and Management Group Name.
Floor Map Panel will not be displayed in the extended state of Floor Map List.
Clicking Details again returns you to the default non-detailed view.
X Deployment Map Shows the number of floor maps.
Search Floor Map Filter entries in the list by entering a partial string in the search box.
The Search field lets you enter a partial string to match. The screen displays entries with that string in one of the following fields: "Floor Map Name", "Management Group Name" or "Tag".
To remove the filter, delete the string from the Search field and press Enter.

Status Icon Overall status of the APs on the floor map is indicated by an icon. A green checkmark means everything is normal.

Width[m] Displays the 2-D width set when the floor map was created (unit: m).
Length[m] Displays the 2-D height set when the floor map was created (unit: m).
History Configuration
Checkbox Check this box if you want to select the floor map as the display target.
Status Icon Overall status of the APs on the floor map is indicated by an icon. A green checkmark means everything is normal.
A red triangle indicates some APs on the map have an issue.
Floor Map Name Shows the name of the floor map.
Client Location Estimation Displays whether the Location Estimation function is enabled or disabled for each floor map.
Click the "Detail" button to switch to the expanded view of the Floor Map list.

Item Name Description
Details Click to return to the list display of Status, Floor Map Name, and Management Group Name.
The Floor Map Panels will also be displayed on the left side of the Contents section.
X Deployment Map Shows the number of floor maps.

Deployed APs Shows the number of wireless APs placed on the floor map.
Tag Shows tags added to the floor map.

"Delete" (trashbin) button: Lets you delete the floor map.
Map Information
Checkbox To edit tags for floor maps, use the checkbox to select the maps and click this button.
Status Icon Overall status of the APs on the floor map is indicated by an icon. A green checkmark means everything is normal.
A red triangle indicates some APs on the map have an issue.
Floor Map Name Shows the name of the floor map.
Width[m] Displays the 2-D width set when the floor map was created (unit: m).
Length[m] Displays the 2-D height set when the floor map was created (unit: m).
Origin X[m] Displays the horizontal position of the origin (upper left) of the floor map image (unit: meter).
Origin Y[m] Displays the vertical position of the origin (upper left) of the floor map image (unit: meter).
Ceiling Height[m] Displays the height of the floor in the 3D floor map (unit: meter).
"Edit" (pencil) button: Lets you edit the floor map.
"Delete" (trashbin) button: Lets you delete the floor map.
History Configuration
Checkbox To edit tags for floor maps, use the checkbox to select the maps and click this button.
Status Icon Overall status of the APs on the floor map is indicated by an icon. A green checkmark means everything is normal.
A red triangle indicates some APs on the map have an issue.
Floor Map Name Shows the name of the floor map.
Client Location Estimation Displays whether the Location Estimation function is enabled or disabled for each floor map.
If the location estimation history data retention period is enabled in the "System Settings" screen, clicking the drop-down box will display the "Location Estimation" dialog for "Screen Reference / Wireless Monitoring / Floor Map".
If the location estimation history data storage period is set to "Don't set" in the "System Settings" screen, hovering the mouse pointer over the drop-down box will display a balloon asking to set the location estimation history to be enabled.
"Edit" (pencil) button: Lets you edit the floor map.
"Delete" (trashbin) button: Lets you delete the floor map.

Client Location Estimation

On the Floor Map list, clicking the "Location Estimation" drop-down box in the History Configuration view will display the "Location Estimation" dialog box.
The "Location Estimation" dialog allows you to enable or disable the Location Estimation function for the relevant floor map.

Item Name Description
Client Location Estimation Enables or disables the Location Estimation function for the relevant floor map.
The button for the currently selected one is displayed in blue.
  • Clicking the "Enable" button sets the Location Estimation in effect and closes the dialog box. Location Estimation is performed on the relevant floor map.
  • Clicking the "Disable" button sets the Location Estimation inactive and closes the dialog box. Location Estimation is not performed on the relevant floor map.
"Close" button Aborts changing the setting and closes the dialog box.
When this setting is changed, the Config Status of the wireless APs belonging to the channel blanket among the wireless APs located in the corresponding floor map will be "Changed".
Please apply the configuration to the AP from either the Floor Map Details [Wireless Status View] of the relevant floor map, Wireless Configuration > CB Profile", or Wireless Configuration > AP Settings screen after changing the setting.

Floor Map Detail Views and 3D Floor Map

You can select the floor map to be displayed from the management group drop-down menu and Floor Map drop-down menu in the header of the Floor Map list.
If you select multiple Floor Maps in the same management group, you can view the layered view of the Floor Maps in 3D.
