User Guide: Vista Manager SNMP Plug-in version 2.8.1

Standalone Mode

The SNMP Plug-in has an emergency mode called "Standalone Mode", which allows a direct, local access to the plug-in's management web interface in the unlikely event of Vista Manager EX failing.

Note
To enable Standalone Mode, you have to create a public key during the installation process.
Note
When Standalone Mode is enabled, it is possible for a user to login to the server and configure any aspect of the AWC Plug-in without entering a password. We recommend only enabling Standalone Mode in an emergency.

Enable Standalone Mode

  1. Log on to your PC (a remote system) as a user with Administrator rights.

  2. Open [Vista Manager EX Installation Directory]\Plugins\AT-SNMP\NetManager\tools\modechange folder with Windows Explorer and create a copy of a public key file.
    Note
If you selected "Create public key" during the installation process, "public-key.pem" was created in the following folder:

    C:\Users\ [USERNAME] \Documents\Allied Telesis\AT-Vista Manager EX\certs\public-key.pem

This public key file allows you to access all the functionality of the AWC Plug-in and SNMP Plug-in without entering an administrator password. Take extreme care to store the public key file securely by setting appropriate access permissions.

  3. Open a command prompt window as an administrator.

  4. Run the following command on the command prompt window.

cd [Vista Manager EX Installation Directory]\Plugins\AT-SNMP\NetManager\tools\modechange

.\modechange standalone [Vista Manager EX Installation Directory]\Plugins\AT-SNMP\NetManager\tools\modechange\public-key.pem

Standalone Mode has been enabled.

Access Management Screen in Standalone Mode

  1. Open a web browser.

  2. Enter the URL of the SNMP Plug-in server (https://localhost:6443/NetManager/web2) and press Enter.

  3. After successful login, the main screen of the SNMP Plug-in will appear.

Disable Standalone Mode

  1. Log on to your PC (a remote system) as a user with Administrator rights.

  2. Open a command prompt window as an administrator.

  3. Run the following command on the command prompt window.

cd [Vista Manager EX Installation Directory]\Plugins\AT-SNMP\NetManager\tools\modechange

      .\modechange normal

Standalone Mode has been disabled.
