User Guide: Vista Manager SNMP Plug-in version 2.8.1

Device Tree View

"Device Tree View" shows the monitored network components hierarchically.

Tree View

SNMP Plug-in classifies the network elements to monitor into the following categories. They are collectively referred to as "Node". As the SNMP Plug-in monitor the network per node, you can track the network status for each subnet or port as well as for each device. You can perform operations such as reviewing information per node.
Note
"Node" in the SNMP Plug-in's context has nothing to do with the Node for an "AMF Node".

Table 1: Tree View
Item Name Description
"Gear" icon

Clicking "Gear" icon shows the operation submenu for a node (Network or Subnet) selected on the Tree View.
Possible operations are as follows.
  • Network:
Add a subnet under the network.

  • Subnet:
Add a device under the subnet.
Network Tree Shows the monitored node hierarchically.
Node
Represents a network element.
Each node comprises of one or two icon(s) and a node name.
  • Status Icon:
    Shows the node status.
It is a smaller icon and shown in the leftmost position of a node row.

  • Node Icon:
    Shows the node type.
It is displayed between a status icon and a node name.

  • Name:
Shows an administrative name of the node.

Status Icons

Meaning of the status icons varies depending on the node type.

Table 2: Status Icons
Type Description
Unavailable Icon
Indicates that the node is unavailable or the node contains unavailable nodes. Meaning of the icon for each node type is as follows.
  • Network
There's a unresponsive device under the node.

  • Subnet
There's a unresponsive device under the node.

  • Device
    The device does not respond.

  • Port
    The port is disabled (shutdown)
Available Icon Indicates that the node can be used.
Trap Icon
Indicates that SNMP Plug-in received a trap from the node.
Note
To clear a trap icon, click "Gear" icon on Device Details or Other Node's details page and select "Clear Notification Flag". Trap icons will never go off unless explicitly cleared. It is recommended to clear them once you review the received trap.
Unavailable, Trap Icon Indicates that SNMP Plug-in received a trap from the node and the node is currently unavailable.
Traffic Rate Icon
Only shown for a port. It indicates a traffic rate (speed) of the port.
Also refer to Appendix > List of Icons / Status Icons.

  • 10Mbps

  • 100Mbps

  • 1Gbps

  • 10Gbps
Note
A traffic rate icon is only displayed when the port is enabled.
Note
A traffic rate icon is not displayed for a repeater or HUB node.
Blocking Icon Only shown for a port. Indicates that the port is in Blocking state of the Spanning Tree Protocol.
Partition Icon Only shown for a port. Indicates that the port is in automatic partitioning state.

Node Attributes

"Node Attributes" shows the basic information about a node selected on the Tree View.
When you click the node name in the attribute section, Detailed information page for the selected node type such as Device Details page is displayed.
Refer to Other Nodes for information on details page for node types other than "Device".
